One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had to deal with. CB Chandler completed my project last summer. Some of the photos I have displayed are during and after the project was complete.
The outside work began with removing the old siding. Nothing was put in the yard to capture all the falling debris. We are still removing nails out of the yard and driveway almost a year later. Three out of the four new exterior doors have had to be completely removed and reinstalled because they were completely out of level. The front door would not even latch. Sections of the vinyl siding have had to be removed and replaced due to either not being nailed or bulges from nails not being driven in. Two sections done by a separate company through CB Chandler have completely fallen off the garage. The bulk of the screens on the house have had to be replaced due to sagging or damage.
The tile wall in the master bathroom was redone four times before it was corrected. An attempt was made to try to cover up the poor workmanship which resulted in the glass enclosure, having to be removed and then reinstalled. The grout line in corner of the shower has since cracked. The decision for repair from CB Chandler was to caulk over it. The tile floor in the upstairs hall bathroom is already cracking due to an improper underlayment. The new trim in many of the doorways was not installed flush with the floor. A pathetic attempt of wood filler was used to try to correct this in many of the locations. Many of the doors throughout the inside of the home are out of level and do not seal properly when shut. There are large gaps in the doorways. Heritage Flooring of Hanover was who CB Chandler hired to replace the hardwood flooring in the house. The first time the floors were finished, the job was so bad, the owner of the company stated they needed to be redone again. During this process, they did not remove the shoe molding which caused for a very poor finish. I have since had to replace my downstairs air conditioning unit. The brand new duct was full of sawdust, nails, and other construction debris. Drywall finish and painting took numerous times to get to an acceptable level with many flaws still remaining. I eventually gave up because it seemed like the people doing the work were potentially amateurs off of craigslist. Part of the contract was to add a support beam underneath the deck on my home. The support beam that CB Chandler installed did not even touch the joist which offered no support. After two failed attempts, I redid the support beam myself.
After numerous emails and conversation requesting brick for the base of my garage, this was forgotten and overlooked. They tried to sell me on veneer to cover up their mistake. I eventually settled with a brick base step out. One of the exterior walls that was framed is so crooked. You can see the bulge on both the inside and outside of the structure. The headers over the windows in the garage don’t even connect to the supporting studs. Shims were driven in from their company Rep to remedy this.
Maybe CB Chandler doesn’t produce high-quality work, or maybe they just did a really poor job at my home. In seeing many of the videos and photos they post online, I often wonder if you zoom in, what you may see. I am in and out of new construction all the time. I deal with many builders on many different levels of construction. Since this project was completed, I have been unable to find work that was completed as low-grade as mine was.
