I stayed here for 3 weeks last November. I thought Ventana was wonderful then, even though it took a while to get my nurse call button answer
I had to return at end of February and it was awful. Most of the nursing staff spoke English as a second language. I could mostly understand them, but they couldn’t understand me. Additionally, they were very slow to answer the call button. One night, I soiled my adult diaper. When someone finally answered, they said, “OK, I’ll be right back. They left me in that dirty diaper for 3 hours. When I complained loudly about it, they told me I had to be patient.

One good thing. One morning I woke up having a hard time breathing. My nurse came in to find me struggling to breathe. She acted immediately, turning up my oxygen flow and ordering a breathing treatment. We both decided I needed to go to the hospital, which is where I am now. Besides her, most of the nurses weren’t very interested in taking care of me. Once I get out of the hospital, will not be going back.

I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Ventana Rehab Center for the exceptional care they provided to my wife during her stay. From the management staff to the doctors, nurses, nurse assistants, shuttle drivers, and concierge team, everyone contributed to creating a supportive and welcoming environment.

A special shoutout to members of the nurse and nurse assistant team—Michael Agy, Demarkus Hunter, Adam Williams, Emmanuel Okeke, Gloria Ehia, Israel, and Yemi—whose professionalism and compassion made a significant difference in my wife’s stay at Ventana. Their dedication, kindness, and attentive care truly stood out.

The Doctor's, management staff, shuttle drivers and the concierge team also went above and beyond to ensure that not only my wife but also our family felt supported during our visits. The level of service they provided was greatly appreciated and made the experience much smoother.

While the overall care and service were exceptional, I did notice one individual from the nurse assistant team and another from the concierge team who could improve their attitude and approach to all residents. The Concierge guy (His) selective helpfulness and rudeness do not align with the otherwise outstanding service provided by the rest of the team.

Thank you once again for making my wife’s stay a positive experience and for supporting our family throughout her stay at Ventana. We are deeply grateful for your hard work and dedication!

My mother stayed here for rehab for about 2 weeks. Everything was well organized, the communication was good, the facilities were spotless, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and well trained. We were very happy with everything. Thank you for helping my mother to get well again!

My grandfather lives at the community and just moved into the Assisted Living area. Our experience has been nothing but wonderful. As a family member, having that support with medications, activities, doctor's appointments has made my life so much more relaxed. I no longer have to worry about him being by himself in regards to safety issues and loneliness. He has acclimated really well and loves having people there to talk to all day long. He was also able to bring his little dog which has been an amazing experience. I would highly recommend the community to others. It's beautiful, the staff are very caring about the residents and it's such a blessing to see my loved one having fun again and excited about each day.

I would like to acknowledge your amazing nursing team for going above and beyond with his care. The therapy department was patient and encouraging as well as the dietary staff. A special thanks to Dr. Howard for listening and being able to ensure his medical needs were met at all times.

Ventana by Buckner Rehabilitation was an absolute hellscape for our elderly loved one and our family. A few days there resulted in a lengthy return to hospital and weeks of still-ongoing therapy due to Ventana’s neglect, despite numerous meetings with rehab and nursing administration to discuss problems such as crucial medication delays, lack of hygiene care resulting in painful skin lesions, no bath offered throughout stay - I could go on. Concerns were met with blank stares all around. There is a lack of communication and experience at every level - rehab administration, nursing administration, medical administration.
Staff who should be fired for cause are simply reassigned elsewhere to plague other patients and families. Excuses made at every turn. “I’ve only worked here 3 weeks.” “That happened on the last shift. I just got here.”
Medical staff made light of - or ignored - our concerns - - wanted to argue about how many doses of critical medicine were missed - instead of being concerned that ANY doses were missed. We had to request/ insist on lab tests and request IV fluids - and then wait hours for outside lab and IV vendors to come. The vendor who set IV did not tape it down. Nursing staff didn’t have proper tape for IV - so we had to sit up all night to watch and hold it to maintain flow. We had to email administration to insist on getting lab results. Nursing staff misread labs and told us they were normal. Many hours later medical staff looked at SAME lab results remotely, and paramedics were called without discussion - just showed up and shocked us all.
No one from Ventana called to follow up or check on our loved one - who could have died there if not for our constant advocacy - and who will never be the same.
These issues were discussed with upper administration.
In retrospect, we should have left soon after we discovered that crucial, prescribed medicine was not being administered, but we stayed and tried to make it work on our doctor’s advice- as moving an elderly person can be detrimental to their mental health and recovery.
My advice: Do not be deceived by the look of a facility and the marketing jargon. Beware. There are good rehab facilities in Dallas. Keep looking.
